Waitaki Libraries is your place to relax, enjoy, think and take your mind on a journey.
We have a free lending collection and a small number of rental collections.
Library members can request an item from any of the libraries in the Waitaki District Libraries collective.
We offer a free internet access at the Oamaru, Palmerston, Hampden and Kurow Libraries.
We run regular topical events and programmes including Wriggle and Rhyme: active movement for early learning for babies; storytime for toddlers; book chat for adults; guest speakers and author talks; school holiday programmes and more.
Oamaru Public Library is located at 62 Thames Street, Oamaru.
OPENING HOURS: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30am-5:30pm Thursday 10:00am-5:30pm Saturday 10:00am-12:30pm
Parking: Metered parking is available outside the Library, and there is free parking within walking distance. There is a disabled car park in front of the library.
Palmerston Public Library is located in the Waihemo Service Centre, 54 Tiverton Street, Palmerston, which is also a service point for Waitaki District Council.
OPENING HOURS: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8.30am-5.00pm Thursday 8.30am-4.00 pm
Parking: Free parking is available at the Waihemo Centre
Kurow School & Community Library and Waitaki Valley School Library share the same building at Waitaki Valley School, Waitaki Valley School, Settlement Road, Kurow.
OPENING HOURS: Monday-Wednesday & Friday 12.30pm-3.30pm, Thursday 1:00pm-3:30pm, Saturday 10:30am-12:00pm
Parking: Free parking is available outside the School
Hampden Community Library is located in the Hampden Hall on the Main Road.
OPENING HOURS: Monday 2.00-4.00pm, Wednesday 10.00am-12.00pm, Thursday 2.00-4.00pm, Friday 5.00-7.00pm, Saturday 10:00am-12:00pm.
Parking: Free parking is available on the main road in front of the library.
Otematata Community Library is located in the Lakes Centre on West Road.
OPENING HOURS: Tuesday and Thursday 2.30-3.30pm Saturday 10.30am-12.00pm
Parking: Free parking behind the Lakes Centre.
Omarama Community Library is located in the Omarama Community Hall, on the Main Road.
OPENING HOURS: Wednesday and Saturday 9:00-10:00am.
