Sarah Carr: Finding Mary
Sarah Carr will talk about her current research, Finding Mary: Shedding light on the life of a fallen woman.
In 1861 Mary was charged with having “no lawful or visible means of subsistence” and was committed to gaol with her 5 year old child. Sarah Carr has a PhD from Otago University, where she researched the regulation of sexual behaviour in mid 19th Century Otago
