Interested in the South Canterbury long-tailed bats?
George Iles and Damian Bromwich from the Department of Conservation in Geraldine will explain their research on the long-tailed bat for Conservation Week
DOC researchers have been collecting information about bats in the Hanging Rock area. The population here is about 100 bats and is still declining.
Restoration efforts include protecting old-aged trees that provide cavities with the correct conditions for breeding. As old native trees are now scarce , they are using willows, poplars, macrocarpa, and pines.
Come along tonight and learn more about this fascinating bat.
