Welcome to Waitaki District Libraries

The Oamaru Public Library offers a variety of collections and several very special collections.

The General Adult Collection is comprised of Fiction, Non Fiction, Large Print, Audio Visual, Graphic Novels, Magazines, Newspapers, Talking Books and DVDs.

Waitaki District Libraries are here to help businesses - and with the current pandemic crisis, we have acted quickly to provide a collection of resources that are responsive and directly address fallout from the crisis, including a collection of books that speak of radical changes to office life and offer answers in an uncertain economic environment:

Children's Library

With books, puzzles, DVDs and digital resources as well as activities and services, the children’s library is here for children of all ages.

Waitaki District Libraries collaborates with lots of community groups in the Waitaki District - including Waitaki Community Mental Health and the Citizen's Advice Bureau.

Waitaki District Libraries offers a range of online services and access points - from eBooks to eAudiobooks, Ancestry.com to movie streaming, we hope there is enough here to keep you occupied for hours....

The purpose of a Friends of the Library is to support the libraries throughout the Waitaki District, to advocate for them and institute new initiatives and activities to serve their diverse communities.

Focus areas include –

• The support of seniors and lifelong learning.

• Pasifika peoples

• Tangata Whenua

• Migrants and newcomers to the District
