Welcome back to your place
Welcome back to your place. An exhibition of works from the permanent collection of the Forrester Gallery exploring the concepts of place and identity.
For this exhibition we have selected a range of artworks from the collection including paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture. When viewed together the artworks create the possibility for conversations about what happens when we create images of our landscape, our physical environment, our place.
Gallery Director Jane Macknight says: “Landscapes can be very powerful containers of cultural narratives and values. Often we are not aware of the forces that work upon us. In this exhibition we have included a range of artworks, some that tend to reinforce dominant value systems and provide comfort and others where the artist clearly intends for us to question our values and beliefs.”
