Sharon Murcott, My Slice of Heaven
I have always had a love of drawing but first picked up a paintbrush at the age of 16. It was then I started to have a go at oils, as I loved the old masters. I could spend hours looking through books I had got out of the library wondering how on earth they managed to paint like that. I also had a go at pastels and acrylics but once I found watercolour I was hooked. Why I love watercolour is that you are never sure what is going to happen. Sometimes the parts that almost paint themselves are the best part of the painting! I like to try and capture everyday kind of moments and feelings, not always a pretty picture but hopefully a painting with atmosphere and a bit of excitement so that the viewer enjoys looking into it.
