Deborah Hill Cone: We should be boosting the arts in schools not bleeding them dry
I really connected with this piece by Deborah Hill Cone in the Herald on Tuesday about the under funding and squashing of the arts in schools. Not only as like her I bunked off school in Hamilton but because I believe the school system has the wrong priorities. Standardised learning ignores creativity and dumbs down imagination. The arts need to be embraced, celebrated and encouraged as they promote real life learning across many disciplines essential for our health and well being.
