Purchase of photographic images
Photographs can be purchased for personal, private and non-commercial purposes at $8.50 for a printed or high resolution digital copy. To order images please email the photograph details to archive@waitaki.govt.nz

Reusing images from Culture Waitaki collections online

Can I download, copy or reuse the images from this site?
It depends. Some images can be freely used, others require you to get permission from whoever holds the copyright before you can use them.

How do I find the copyright statement for an image?
Check the rights information in the Object detail page.

What do the different copyright statements mean?
Copyright undetermined – untraced rights owner
This means Culture Waitaki has made a reasonable and documented effort to find the copyright owner, but have not located any one. We have decided to make these images available. You can download, copy or reuse an image with this statement.

General questions

What do I do if I spot a mistake in your information?
Please contact archive@waitaki.govt.nz so we can correct the record if necessary.

How can I share information I have about an item?
Please use the comment feature on the item. The comments are checked by staff regularly and added to the item information when appropriate. When you post a comment we'll reply to your email directly.

Is all of the collection online?
No, only a selection of items are online. We will be adding more over time as they are digitised. Please contact archive@waitaki.govt.nz if there is something you are looking for but can’t find.

Do you have more information about the items than is shown online?
Yes, in some cases. Please contact archive@waitaki.govt.nz if you want more information about an item.

Can I come and view an item?
Yes you can, but please contact archive@waitaki.govt.nz to make a time first so our staff can retrieve the item/s from the collection store.

How do I donate an item to the archive, museum or gallery?
Please contact archive@waitaki.govt.nz and we can discuss donations further.

Can you identify an item for me?
We are happy to assist with identifying items. Please contact archive@waitaki.govt.nz . We cannot provide valuations.

Do you lend items?
We lend items from our collections for display in exhibitions at other archives, museums and galleries. We do not lend to private individuals.
