​In 2019 a new cultural facility will open its doors to the community and visitors to our district. To create the new facility, we plan to redevelop the current Forrester Gallery. 

The existing building at 9 Thames Street, will be upgraded and an adjoining building constructed which will double capacity so the new facility can house a combined North Otago Museum, Forrester Gallery and Waitaki District Archive.

This isn't just about developing a new building, it's about creating a focal point for telling and sharing our district's unique stories, and a space where local residents and visitors want to spend their time and engage with cultural activities. 

To achieve this,​​ we're going to need your help.​​ ​Over the next twelve months or so we'll be asking for your ideas and feedback on the sorts of things you would like to see and do at the facility. So watch this space!
