Christopher Wright is a well-known artist in Ōamaru. He has exhibited in group exhibitions, entered and won many awards in art competitions and participated in the local Ōamaru Stone Symposium. His love of architecture shows in his detailed work. Chris often works from memory rather than using images taken of buildings. He takes a keen interest in the condition of Oamaru’s historic buildings and any planned alterations. This solo exhibition includes a selection of paintings and sculptures of buildings from Otago, South Canterbury and the Waitaki region from the last 21 years.
