Autumn Holiday Programme

Autumn Fun

Looking for something fun to do with your friends in the second week of the holidays?
Come and check out the wonderlab upstairs in the gallery. We will be making art inspired by the Kermadec: Lines in the Ocean show. With a different activity planned for each day I am sure you will make some original art to take home.

Tuesday 26 April 11-3pm ROCK ART: Look at how inter-media artist Phil Dadson and painter and installation artist John Reynolds use rocks in their art. Then explore several techniques to express our “voice” to make art. Please bring cell phones or cameras for recording. There will also be volcanic rocks to view.

Wednesday 27 April 11-3pm CROWNING GLORY: Imagine you are King or Queen of your own Island and design your own crown with educator Sue Mclean. Based on an image by artist Gregory O'Brien.

Thursday 28 April 11-3pm TAPA TIME: With inspiration from Niuean artist John Pule ONZM and NZ artist Dame Robin White, use symbols and motifs that represent you on a tapa grid design.

Friday 29 April 11-3 THE MYSTIC GARDEN: Look at botanical sculptures by installation artist Elizabeth Thomson, then using a microscope you will make your own dazzling detailed image.

Drop by and join in -it only costs $2 a child. All ages are welcome.
